Maegok — Plum Canyon, Carved in Wood Undated
About the work
Calligraphy that leaves the paper: a seogak carving on a live-edge plank, the characters cut in archaic forms, inked black, and sealed in red. It reads Maegok — "Plum Canyon," the name of the place where the artist sets down his brush. The knife stands in for the brush, and the brush’s energy survives the exchange.
